May Flowers Are Blooming

Letter from the President

Here I am again, after all these years, president! I want to give a great big thank you to the previous board for a year of dedication and hard work and a great big thank you to the new board for volunteering your time and your enthusiasm. I am really excited about the coming year. I have already had a lot of great input as to what you, the members, would like to see happening with regards to Jack and Jills, announcements, atmosphere, et cetera. Please feel free to offer me your feedback, complaints, praises at any time. I really want to hear from you.

As I said in my little blurb in last month's newsletter, let's focus on the dance. We have a lot of resources in our little town and a fabulous bunch of dancers, and there are also a lot of people who haven't yet discovered how much fun dancing is. Let's work together to expand our dance community. Bring your friends from work or from your social groups for a visit to the Club and let them discover what they've been missing. You can get free passes to give to your friends, first-timers only. Just ask Jane at the front desk.

We have several appointed board positions still open. Voting for the appointed positions will take place at the May 14th board meeting, so please e-mail me as soon as possible if you're interested in helping out. My e-mail is swngdans@aol.com.

I wanted to highlight a couple of May events so you can put them on your calendars. Our May happy hour will be on Saturday, the 10th at The Keys. Thank you, Rosanne, for setting that up for us! Also, the Greater Phoenix Swing Dance Club is having a May Dance Mash on May 3rd and 4th. There will be instructors teaching a variety of dances throughout the day. There will also be judging workshops for those of you interested in learning more about what the judges are looking for in competition and understanding how the judging process works. This is a great opportunity to take lessons all day and dance all night, only two hours away. See their Web site for more information.

Thank you all for your support and participation.

Peace and harmony!

Ellen
