Happy New Year! The year 2003 looks to be a good one. Be sure to renew you membership by the end of January, because after the 31st your gold club card is invalid! 

Before we look forward to a great year, let us reflect back over 2002. First, I must say it was indeed a honor to be president for the 25^th Anniversary of the Tucson Swing Dance Club. I tried to impart a sense of pride in being a member of our fun dance club. We had increased media coverage with television, radio, and newspaper - each spreading the word about our club. The newsletter did the best ever in bringing in revenue to help offset the increasing cost of printing and mailing. The newly established web site opened a whole new area for announcing who we are and what we do. Allow me to remind you, we can save a bundle if we utilize the web site for reading the club's newsletter online and save trees at the same time! The Anniversary Party, Halloween Party, and Holiday Party all did well in paying for themselves with great support from the membership. The Jack and Jill Club Championships were the most exciting club competitions ever, however we need ideas on how to curve the costs of this event since it was the biggest challenge to the treasury in 2002. Membership and guest attendance allowed us to break even in the rent, newsletter, payroll, and miscellaneous costs departments. The Happy Hours have had a positive effect on the interaction between members and has had a great impact in limiting clique formation in the club as a whole. The idea of having a different dance instructor every month has be well received. It is good for the instructors and allows them to display their teaching talents for the entire month, and it provides entertainment variety for the membership. All in all - a very good anniversary year! We could not have done as well as we did without the volunteers that helped make it happen. I can't thank you all enough. 

On that same note, special thanks go out to the members that pitched in and helped with the Holiday Party! It was because of you that made this project shine with success! Those that didn't attend missed out on a great party! Thanks to all of the performers - what a great show! Thank you Larry for operating the music during the performance! Thank you LP for the music, a magnificent job! Thank you Parker for being the voice of the TSDC, what a great announcer and master of the microphone! And what can you say about Linda Lowell (Holiday Party Coordinator), you are indeed a sparkling gem in the Tucson dance community! You should organize party events as a business! A special thank you from me and all the members of the TSDC.

If you like the level of activity in 2002 and would like to see the same or more in 2003, then don't hesitate to make a difference. Jump in and volunteer your services for the TSDC. Elections are coming up. Run for office and make an impact. Don't dawdle on the sidelines. Get in the game and be a professional! The nomination meeting is at the end of this month. Get involved!
